Faster EFT (Emotionally Focused Transformations) falls into the category of therapies that work by systematically desensitising the various different aspects of a memory. Other therapies in this category include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). In other words, if you have a troublesome memory, it may have one or more likely a combination of: images, sounds, smells, tastes, touch elements, and most important, emotion. The actual process involves tapping on specific points of the body whilst accessing the memory aspects individually. The result is that, disturbing images often disappear completely, as do any other parts of the memory that are involved in maintaining the problem. This technique is very effective for the reduction or removal of the ongoing negative feelings associated with traumas such as car accidents, assaults, rape, images linked to illness leading up to death of a loved one. Believe it or not, I can usually desensitise something quite horrific in a one to two hour session to the point where it doesn't bother you. The even better news is that this technique has never failed me yet when I have used it to address one off traumas.
